BIAFRA: IPOB says they will not be intimidated.

The Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) has said that no amount of intimidation or harassment could make it jettison the fight for Biafra restoration.
In a press statement issued on Monday by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, IPOB said that the Federal Government would not succeed in its efforts to scuttle the agitation as the people were passionate about the new republic.

“The Biafra project was ordained by God, and Biafra will be a country where people of Africa will benefit from technologically, economically, politically and spiritually,” he said.
The group wondered why the Department of State Services (DSS) failed to produce in court last Friday, its National Coordinator, Chidiebere Onwudiwe, who has been in detention since June 22.

It said that Onwudiwe who was arrested in his house in Port Harcourt had been held up in DSS cell since then.
IPOB therefore called for his immediate release since the DSS has failed to produce him in court for trial.

7 Health benefits of locust bean

Locust bean, commonly referred to as iru
by Yorubas, ‘ogiri’, ‘dawa dawa’ by Igbos,
is a local seasoning or condiment used in
soups and stews.
A very popular soup ingredient, globally, it is referred to as African locust bean with the botanical name as Parkia biglobosa.
It can be found in a wide range of
environments in Africa and is primarily
grown for its pods that contain both a
sweet pulp and valuable seeds.
The yellow pulp, which contains the seeds, is naturally sweet “and is processed into a valuable carbohydrate food known as sikomu and daddawa among the Yoruba and Hausa people respectively.

The most valuable parts of the locust bean are high in lipid (29%), protein (35%), carbohydrate (16%), and is a good source of fat and calcium for rural dwellers.

The seed is first cooked to remove the seed coat and then fermented to produce the desired result. When it is fermented, the Yoruba have a way of getting two types from it, the mashed type and the loose or free type, and they are used for different types of soups, but for the same purpose.

1. The fermented locust bean seed is used
in controlling diabetes and cholesterol level.
2. It helps to promote good sight and aids
digestion.
3. It is used for treating stroke and
hypertension.
4. The water and alcoholic extracts of
fermented locust bean is used to reduce
blood sugar.
5. It is used in the management of bacterial infections.
6. The locust bean contains tannins, which is often recommended for the treatment of diarrhoea.
7. It is a potential benefit for enhancing
weight loss.
The crushed bark of the locust bean tree
has also been revealed to help in wound
healing and serves as one of the ingredients used in treating leprosy. The
decoction of the bark is also used as bath
for fever and as a hot mouth wash to
steam and relieve toothache in Cote
d’Ivoire.

Trump finally admits it: 'President Barack Obama was born in United States'

Updated 19:37 GMT (0337 HKT) September 16, 2016

Story highlights.

Trump: 'Now we all want to get back to making Americastrong and great again'

Clinton says Trump should apologize for his role in birther movement.

Washington (CNN) — Donald Trump finally admitted
Friday that "President Barack Obama was born in
the United States," reversing himself on the issue
that propelled him into national politics five years
ago.
Trump sought to end his longstanding attempt to
discredit the nation's first African-American
president with just a few sentences tacked on at
the end as he unveiled his new hotel on
Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington.
But the issue isn't likely to die down any time soon
-- especially as Trump continues to falsely blame
Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton for starting the
"birtherism" controversy. Clinton said earlier Friday
that Trump's acknowledgment of Obama's
birthplace doesn't go far enough and that he must
also apologize.
"For five years, he has led the birther movement to
delegitimize our first black president," Clinton said
at an event in Washington. "His campaign was
founded on this outrageous lie."

Another defeat for Jose Mourinho

Feyenoord 1 – 0 Manchester
United: Jose Mourinho’s
men defeated

An undercooked and
under-performing
Manchester United started
their Europa League
campaign with a defeat as
Tonny Vilhena secured
Feyenoord a late victory.
A year to the day since
losing their Champions
League opener at PSV
Eindhoven, United
endured another night
to forget in Holland.
Their much-changed line-up boasted quality but
looked cumbersome and unwieldy in
Rotterdam, where Feyenoord snatched a 1-0
win through Vilhena’s strike.
It was hardly the response Jose Mourinho
craved after Saturday’s derby defeat at home to
Manchester City, with few of the eight changes
impressing at the imposing if partially-closed De
Kuip.
Anthony Martial’s fizzing strike wide was the
best United could muster in a lacklustre first
half that showed little sign of improvement
after the break.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Memphis Depay and Ashley
Young were thrown on as Mourinho attempted
to jump start his side, but their introduction
could not prevent United’s winless run
extending to a sixth European trip.
Instead, they left Holland pointless as the
Eredivisie leaders struck a decisive blow as
offside calls against Nicolai Jorgensen were
ignored and his cross was turned home
impressively by Vilhena.
This was United’s simplestt journey, as Istanbul-
based Fenerbahce and Ukraine’s Zorya Luhansk
lie in wait over the coming months, which is
part of the reason why Mourinho chose such a
strong side for the trip to Rotterdam.
It was an impressive show of strength but the
eight changes from the derby loss struggled,
rarely clicking into gear.
David de Gea saved a curling Steven Berghuis
effort and easily collected a Vilhena strike
during the opening stages, in which Paul
Pogba’s free-kick was easiy saved by Brad
Jones.
The former Liverpool goalkeeper had precious
little to do in the first half but will have
breathed a sigh of relief in the 24th minute
when Martial fizzed wide after a Matteo
Darmian cross.
It was United’s only moment of inspiration in a
tepid half that ended with Juan Mata just failing
to reach a Marcus Rashford header.
Unlike Saturday’s Manchester derby the United
boss refrained from any changes at the break,
from which Mourinho emerged around a
minute before his players and staff.
World-record signing Pogba flashed hopelessly
wide soon after play resumed, then Karim El
Ahmadi did better when coming close with his
own long-range effort.
Pogba had another attempt before Mourinho
made widespread changes, throwing on
Ibrahimovic, Depay and Young for Rashford,
Martial and Mata.
Despite the decision to change attack, the Dutch
side were looking most like scoring, with
Jorgensen blocked before Bilal Basacikoglu tried
his luck.
Feyenoord fans cheered when Depay missed
with a wild attempt, before the noise ratcheted
up several notches. Jorgensen appeared offside
when put through down the flank, making the
most of defensive disarray and cutting the ball
back to the edge of the box for Vilhena to turn
home.
An incredible din welcomed the goal, with every
tackle and missed opportunity cheered in the
closing stages. Young failed under pressure and
Ibrahimovic stung Jones’ palms with a long-
range free-kick, with Eric Bailly denied at the
near post before the final whistle.
